Strong overnight refreeze on Rubicon Peak.

Very strong snow surface refreeze in this area last night. The top 10 inches of the snowpack was refrozen and highly supportable. Very firm conditions on N aspects during the mid morning hours. Upon reaching the summit around 11:10 am, the snow a N aspects remained ski edgable, but otherwise very firm and challenging to ascend even with ski crampons. At that same time, just around the corner on E aspect terrain at the same elevation, 2 to 3 inches of wet surface snow existed. Passing back through N-NE aspect terrain between 7,900' and 7,600' around noon revealed 1 to 2 inches of snow surface melt with conditions remaining very supportable on all N-NE-E aspects traveled a bit on either side of noon. No signs of loose wet instability observed during the morning hours.
