Snowpack Observation

Weather mostly sunny all day, mid 20's and mild E winds starting in the afternoon. Snowpack showed signs of wind slabs, tiger striping,  wind loaded slopes were firm and not good riding quality. Previous avalanche activity was visible on loaded slopes. 1 large wind slab avalanche was noted at 24hrs old, D2 and human caused. Previous natural sluffs on wind loaded slopes also noted. 

Pic 1: SP results on column tests on terrain similar to the 24hr old D2, and at a similar depth 50cm down.

Pic 2: The failure layer appears to be a buried surface hoar layer, though they are quite small and difficult to identify. This would be roughly the correct depth for the surface hoar layer observed at Spooner on 3/4.
