Observations from Indian Valley

More signs of settlement (settlement cones on trees) than observed yesterday at Carson Pass, but the snowpack still didn't have much of a base - throttle control was key to prevent tracks from sinking deep today. Successful day with no rocks or stumps hit, and no damage to machines.

Pic 1: Cornice on the E aspect of The Nipple. No current wind transport observed today. Note the small debris pile under the looker's right of the cornice. We did not get close enough to ridge tops to asses slab formation.

Pic 2: Snow drifts on the trail at Charity Valley - often the windiest spot along Blue Lakes Rd. No current wind transport.

Pic 3: HS of 120cm at location indicated by pin drop. Note the surface hoar here, and it appears to be growing on top of subtle wind ripples, so likely growing after the wind event. 160cm was probed downhill from here, in an opening protected by trees.

Pic 4: Better look at surface hoar, observed in almost every open area we traveled today, but more prominent where not in direct sun.
