Wind effects on Tamarack

Less than 1" of new snow on Tamarack this morning with lots of evidence of yesterday's high winds.  Snow surfaces varied from sastrugi, firm melt freeze crusts, and soft wind blown snow.  The unconsolidated snow found on N aspects last week has been effected by NW-N winds, with wind scouring and reverse tracks.  New snow has loaded onto S-E aspects.  We found soft wind slabs up to 2" on E aspects which had bonded well to the existing weak surface crust.   With fist hard 2 mm facets underneath, the surface cracked easily under our skis but didn't have enough strength to form a consistent slab.  Although we didn't find any avalanche hazards today, this setup could become a problem with tomorrow's storm.
