Observation from Angora

I toured around the Angora Peak area today. All slopes that receive some sun except for due south facing slopes remained firm by my 1:30ish departure. While the air temp was above freezing the cloud cover lingered blocking enough sun to keep most surface conditions firm. North facing slopes have highly variable conditions with a mix of shallow soft snow, firms crusts, some stiff wind board, and firm old ski tracks. I didn't observe any signs of instability on my tour.

This is a very subjective observation but south facing slopes seem to have generally thinner snow cover than I would expect given the recent significant storms. The south facing slope of Angora Ridge has many obstacles poking out of the snow.

Photo 2: Shady aspects were a mix of shallow soft snow, firm snow, and firm old tracks. Skinning on steep terrain on these aspects was occasionally challenging. 

Photo 3: Boot penetration of about 1 cm at 12:30 on a sunny aspect. Ski pen was mostly about 1 cm as well on the sun softened south facing slope. Anything that received some shade was still firm with no ski penetration. 

Photo 4: Looking up at Angora Bowl with Echo Peak on the far left. It's hard to see in this photo, and the flat light didn't help in person either, but there appears to be crack running across the slope below the corniced ridge to the left of the rocky Echo Peak summit area.
