Significant wind transport at Elephant's Back

Impressive difference today between the trace of new snow observed in the trees and almost a foot of wind deposited snow in drifts and the NE aspect shoulder of Elephant's Back. Kicking drifts consistently produced cracks that did not run far, but they did go deep towards the bottom of the deposited snow. The NE aspect of Elephant's Hump had classic "wind board" conditions, with high density snow on the surface that fully supported my skis, but lower density snow below.

Pic 2: Every wind drift I stomped on produced consistent cracking that did not run far, but did go towards the bottom of the deposited snow.
