Very large debris pile On Elephants Hump below tree line.

     I toured up Elephants Hump today for normal obs (which is in different observation) and came across this massive debris pile. As I approached it I could see very large chunks of snow in the debris, as I got closer I could see that the crown line was 3-4' deep. I could also tell that it was an older slide as new snow was pilled up within. Upon further investigation there was no end of the far west flank. I traveled up and around to see how far it went, and my best guess is 1200' wide? I walked from one end to the other and was blown away by the propagation within this area. I decided to mark GPS points from one end to the other and mapped it in my pictures above. As I walked along my assessment became clear as it probably failed on the Dec. 11th facet layer at that depth and probably occurred during the Dec. 30 rain event based on the size of chunks in the debris pile and the troughs created from the debris sliding down hill. As I moved around it I was hoping to out flank it and look at the bed surface but with the current loading from todays winds, the hangfire still looming and being by myself I decided to maintain a safe margin, so I found areas were I could try to capture this from a safe distance.
