Natural Wind Slab Avalanches on Tamarack Peak

We went to Tamarack Peak to make observations.  Over a foot of new snow fell during yesterdays storm with another 6'' of storm snow overnight and into today.  Snow and wind continued on and off throughout the day with limited visibility and flat light.  We could see avalanche debris along the East Ridge of Tamarack Peak as we began our tour.  We found natural wind slab avalanches that most likely failed sometime last night/early morning as they were covered by additional storm snow.  We could not verify if it was 1 very wide propagating avalanche or 2 different wind slab avalanches that failed, regardless they were D2 in size.  We also observed shooting cracks in wind loaded terrain and had a wind slab test slope failure as additional signs of instability.  Wind exposed areas are scoured with wind affected snow in many near treeline areas with softer snow in protected below treeline terrain.  Large cornices exist along ridges throughout this area.
