Deep snow below tree line

Guided powder ski day today. Road closures, deep snow travel challenges and uncertainty about avalanche hazard limited many terrain options today. We made a plan to ski slopes less than 35 degrees with no overhead hazard. 

We found excellent ski conditions on below tree line north aspects. At the ridgetop at this location at 6300' height of storm total was 140cm- see photo 1. I was able to feel the Feb 21 facet layer with a probe as a subtle change. Stepping off skis trying to get the deeper layers to whumph got no results. We observed no other signs of instability.
The North wind picked up around midday at the ridgetop and was moving snow- photo 2 shows skin track refill and mini cornice after about 40 minutes. 
The main hazard of the day was deep snow- one tip over led to an awkward dig out despite landing head up. A headfirst fall would be very difficult to extract from.
