Mt. Houghton Observations

Relatively good overnight refreeze in this area above 8600' at 9:15am.  Snow began softening on E aspects around 10:30am.  Skiing down at 11:30am, terrain above 10,000' was still firm and not softening with the cloud cover and moderate SW winds.  Below 10,000', good corn snow conditions existed with 2'' of soft snow on top of a firm and supportable crust.  Below 9000' by 12:30 areas of unsupportable snow existed on all aspects with sticky snow.  Wet snow instability was limited to small roller balls at this time.
