Wind Slab and Cornice Failures on Tamarack

While skinning up to look at an avalanche on the Prolateriat we noticed that the looker's left side of the far east Ridge of Tamarack had fresh avalanche debris on it. It looked like a large cornice collapse had occurred sometime this morning and triggered a wind slab avalanche.  During the time that we were digging a pit at the crown of the older avalanche on the Proletariat (it happened yesterday during the storm), we heard a rumble and noticed that the cornice on the lookers right had just collapsed and triggered a wind slab avalanche about 1 to 2 feet in depth. The cornice pieces that collapsed and triggered this avalanche were car sized. 

Investigating other wind-loaded test slopes on Tamarack Peak reveal a stiff and stubborn wind slab. Ski kicks and smaller pieces of cornices dropped onto these test slopes only triggered shooting cracks and did not trigger additional wind slab failures.
