Observations from Luther Pass

Cold wintery snow on Powderhouse. Minimal evidence of settlement within the storm snow, and wind slab confined to only the uppermost near tree line NE elevations. A few ridgeline test slopes revealed limited cracking and propogation.  My partner reported hearing a whumpf at approximately 8600 feet on the descent in an area with previous tracks. 

Photo 1: A few trees displayed evidence of settlement, but most did not. The storm snow overall was impressively uncohesive. 

Photo 2: On the ridge there was clear evidence of windslab, but it was fairly stubborn and cracks didn't propogate far.
