Slide on Andesite Peak

We skied Andesite Peak mid-day today. Below 7,800 feet the snow was noticeably heavier and we could feel a 4-inch layer of denser snow on top of 3 inches of less dense snow at 7,600 feet. Along the ridge to the summit visibility was very low. Just below the summit, we kicked at a wind loaded test slope. With a couple kicks, shooting cracks extended over 20 feet in both directions from the kicker.  With a few more kicks the slope slide. The crown was about 55 feet wide 10 inches deep. The furthest debris traveled ~150 feet. We were impressed at how far the slide propagated on the steeper right side, nearly wrapping around that corner.
