Variable snow conditions on incline peak

Experienced a variety of snow conditions on Incline Peak today.  Snow on N and NE aspects at upper elevations has been effected by N winds, with some scouring of ridgetops and firm snow surfaces.  In sheltered areas these aspects still held cold snow with small surface hoar and near surface facets at the snow surface.   S and SE aspects had a 1-2cm melt freeze crust in the morning and wet sticky snow by early afternoon.  We dug a quick pit on a NE aspect a 9200' to look at the 12/11 facet layer.  This layer could be found down 35-40cm in the snowpack.  At this location, facets were 4f hardness and showed some signs of rounding. We did 2 compression tests at this location.  In both tests, we were unable to initiate a fracture on this layer due to CTH Q2 fracture of the entire column just above the ground.  These fractures occurred on a layer of 1-2mm facets in the bottom 5cm of the snowpack.  We stayed on low angle terrain throughout our tour.
