Cold wind at Trimmer

Toured up Trimmer and found soft snow and strong cold winds. NE winds felt especially chilly and were moving snow at the uppermost ridges. While crusts exist at lower elevations, shady terrain over 8000 is mostly covered by wintry soft snow. Of note, the approach to Trimmer is extremely thin and it's challenging to connect continuous snow. 

Photo 1: Wind textured snow from NE winds in a clearing near a ridge but below treeline. 

Photo 2: Test results limited to upper 10 cms of snowpack, where strong wind slab sits on top of softer snow. CT results below this did not reveal active weak layers. 

Photo 3: This thin but strong wind slab sits on less dense snow. 

Photo 4: In isolated areas this wind slab produced cracking. Other obvious wind loaded features held such stout wind slab where getting edge purchase was a challenge and no cracking resulted.
