Snowpit Profile from the Carson Range

Dug a pit in NE facing terrain, just outside of the Heavenly Resort boundary. Pit was at an elevation of ~9400', and was not in a wind drifted area. Total snow depth was about 130 cm. Structure of the snowpack in this area was still poor, but improving, strength was moderate-good, and it showed little propagation potential or energy. Of note was a layer of facets buried only about 35 cm deep, where the compression test broke.
