Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Made observations in the Mt. Lola area to look at the current snow surface before the incoming storm tonight.  SW winds were increasing with small amounts of blowing snow by mid day.  4-6'' of near surface facets existed on NW-N-NE aspects and was consistent with other areas of the forecast region.  Surface hoar existed throughout this area and was most prevalent in large open meadows where it was the largest in size (up to 2cm).  As we climbed up on NW-N-NE aspects around 8000', the surface hoar was more isolated or did not exist with evidence of it being destroyed by sun, warm temperatures, and recent winds.
